Five-Minute Ikea Play Kitchen Makeover

Last month I shared our play room reveal, and it still remains one of our favourite rooms in our home. I meant to share the Ikea Duktig Play kitchen DIY with you after so many lovely comments on Instagram and then a mountain of work landed on The Room Alive HQ, including  a trade show and launching a new stationery collection. All super exciting and now firmly launched, I can get back to my blogging duties to share this super easy DIY with you. When I say super easy, it really is! I have chosen a pink tiled splash back design and got it printed in an adhesive format at Nutmeg Wall Art. If you need a different colour or design they would...

Kitchen Reveal - How to Paint Kitchen Cupboards

When we bought our first home, we had a brand new kitchen, new bathrooms, new carpets, new everything, that was the joy of moving into a new build. I loved our all glossy white kitchen with light worktops and high ceilings! I have written before about creative ways that you can use wallpaper around your home (here and here), but this time I want to share my favourite furniture makeovers using, yes you guessed, a good old wallpaper roll! I am a big believer in mixing old and new when it comes to home decor, and up cycling old pieces of furniture to fit in a newly decorated room adds all the special touches you need, especially when they hold a special meaning to you. Plus... if like me, you get tired of your decor or want to innovate and try new things pretty much every six months (yeah, sorry Mr Room Alive!),...

Bright Yellow Accents: guest bedroom reveal

It seems like the perfect time of year for a bright yellow themed post!If you've been here before you may have already seen the first stage of our guest bedroom makeover, when it went from four magnolia walls to two dark blue ones contrasting with a monochrome headboard. It lifted the room up already enough to not make me want to run out every time I was in there. But something was still missing, a bit of warmth to be exact. That's where the second stage of the makeover came in.i had neon pink or bright yellow in mind so i reached out to my insta-fam and their great taste, and the decision was made, yellow it was... (thank you insta-friends!)Let's look...
